5/28/2023 0 Comments Stepbrother dearestWhy doesn't your mom come visit YOU, so you don't have to leave your VERY pregnant wife? Yep, not of a fan I this guy at all, and Greta is too stupid for words. Really? The fact he missed his son's birth to visit his mom, speaks volumes in itself. I can't respect a woman who lets a man treat her like dirt because he is "incredibly hot" and "drool worthy". I understand he was a naive teenager in the beginning, but as an adult his behavior with her was even worse. Elec is a self absorbed momma's boy the whole book, and he treated Greta like a dog ninety percent of. The writing is fantastic and despite not liking the main characters I still wanted to keep reading. Review 2: I think I would have given this five stars, if I hadn't disliked the Elec and Greta so much. Oh my goodness, I loved it, so much that it got added to my "favorites" folder on my kindle, which is kind of a big deal. I needed a break from bikers and super bad boys (because trust me, Elec is still kind of a bad boy), so I gave it a try. I saw the good ratings, but the whole stepbrother/stepsister thing was kinda weird. Review 1: Let me just say, I did not have high expectations for this book.

5/28/2023 0 Comments Jim henson by brian jay jonesThis extraordinary biography-written with the generous cooperation of the Henson family-covers the full arc of Henson's all-too-brief life: from his childhood in Leland, Mississippi through the years of burgeoning fame in Washington D.C., New York, and London to the decade of international celebrity that preceded his untimely death at age fifty-three. The Muppets made Jim Henson a household name, but they were just part of his remarkable story. “He was a gentle dreamer whose genial bearded visage was recognized around the world, but most people got to know him only through the iconic characters he created: Kermit the Frog, Bert and Ernie, Miss Piggy, Big Bird. 5/28/2023 0 Comments "There Are Things I Want You to Know" about Stieg Larsson and Me by Eva GabrielssonThe issue is not money, she says, but her ability to guard her partner's artistic integrity. Eva Gabrielsson and Stieg Larsson shared everything, starting when they were both eighteen until his untimely death thirty-two years later at the age of fifty. Gabrielsson continues to wield her most powerful, if dubiously ethical, weapon: She refuses to help finish the next books in the series, or to answer where Larsson's missing computer - with the unfinished manuscripts - is, until she's given control of his literary estate. Family and partner fought ugly battles in the European media. She was a widow emotionally, but legally, she was a concubine - without any inheritance rights. Unfortunately, the slim volume reads more like a court defense and less, as one might hope, as a remembrance of a writer whom millions of readers have come to love but know precious little about.īereaved and depressed after Larsson's death, Gabrielsson found herself in an epic, public war with Larsson's father and brother over the writer's increasingly valuable estate. etina (cs) Deutsch (de) English (en) Español (es) Français (fr) Hrvatski (hr). Her entire inner life is a secret.Ĭunningham's opening set piece unfolds at night, snow tumbling through an open window in the apartment Barrett and Tyler and Beth share in Bushwick, Brooklyn. "The Snow Queen" moves in propulsive bursts, shifting from Barrett's to Tyler's to, briefly, Beth's point of view, showing how secrets, by their nature, metastasize and create alternate realities.īarrett doesn't tell his brother about his celestial revelation Tyler is hiding his cocaine use from both Beth and Barrett and Beth, so ill and frail, remains a mystery to everyone. The premise created in the first book is fully developed in sometimes sinister ways. Gray really gets into her stride in this book, the characters and the dimensions are fully realised. After my lacklustre response to the first book, A Thousand Pieces of You I wasn’t sure about reading the rest of the series. Ten Thousand Skies Above You was well worth waiting for.
